Women’s kurti & kurta size chart (India)

All 14 size charts published on Siaraa’s women’s kurtis, kurtas, kurta sets, tops, dresses and co-ord sets — in inches. Checked against the live catalogue on 4 August 2026.

The numbers on a kurti or kurta size chart are measurements of the garment, not of your body — so the way to use one is to measure your bust and pick the size whose Bust figure is at least as large as your measurement. On Siaraa, size M is a 38″ garment bust on twelve of the 14charts below and a 40″ garment bust on the other two, which is exactly why you should read the chart printed on the product page of the kurti you are actually buying rather than trusting one number to hold across a whole brand.

The one rule

Measure your bust, then choose the size whose Bust number is equal to or larger than your measurement.

And here is where that rule stops. It tells you the smallest size that will go on; it cannot tell you how loose the garment will sit, because that is a design decision taken garment by garment. Three of the charts below publish a “To Fit Bust” column next to the garment Bust — the body measurement the piece is cut for. On one of them the two columns are identical at every size, on another the garment measures 2″ more, and on the third it measures 4″ more. Same brand, same size letter, three different amounts of room. So use the rule to narrow it down, then read the chart on the product page.

How to measure yourself for a kurti or kurta

You need a soft measuring tape and, ideally, a second pair of hands. Wear the underclothes you would wear with the garment, stand naturally rather than holding yourself in, and keep the tape level with the floor for every measurement — a tape that dips at the back is the single most common reason a number comes out wrong. Write the numbers down; you will use them on every product page.

Bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, over the bra you would normally wear, and bring it round to meet at the front. Keep it level with the floor all the way round, stand relaxed with your arms down, and let the tape sit flat rather than pulling it tight.
Waist
Find the narrowest part of your torso — for most people that sits a little above the navel — and measure right around it. Breathe out normally and keep the tape snug without pressing into you.
Hips
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Check in a mirror that the tape is level at the back; it is the easiest one to get wrong on yourself.
Across shoulder
This is measured across your back, from the bony point at the tip of one shoulder to the same point on the other, following the line a sleeve seam would sit on. It is far easier with a second pair of hands.
Front length
Front length is a measurement of the garment, never of you. It runs from the highest point of the shoulder seam straight down to the front hem. To picture where it will land, hold the tape at your own shoulder and read off the number at the point you want the hem to reach.

Notice that the charts below never tell you what your body ought to measure, and neither do we. They tell you what the clothes measure. Matching one to the other is the whole job.

Front length is what tells the garments apart

Two Siaraagarments can carry an identical Bust row and be completely different clothes. What separates them is front length — shoulder seam to front hem — and across the 14 charts on this page it runs from 17″ on the top of a co-ord skirt set to 46″on a full-length kurta, kurta set or dress. In between sit a 25″ top, a 32″ tunic and a 39″ straight kurti. If you have ever ordered your usual size and found the hem landing somewhere you did not expect, this is the column that explains it. Browse tops for the shorter end of that range and kurtas for the longest.

Siaraa’s size charts, in inches

These are the charts as published on the product pages, grouped by garment. Every figure describes the finished garment. Tables scroll sideways on a phone; the size column stays put. Every chart lists an XS row, but XS is only offered on some kurtas, kurtis and tops — kurta sets, dresses and co-ord sets are made S to XXL. The size selector on the product page is the authority on what is in stock.

Kurta set size charts

Kurta sets are a kurta with pants or a pyjama, some with a dupatta. The Bust, Waist, Hips and Front Length columns describe the kurta; the Inseam and Outseam columns describe the bottoms. Every kurta set is made S–XXL.

What M actually means in a kurti

“M” is not a standard in Indian womenswear; it is a label each brand attaches to a set of garment measurements. Here is what it attaches to on Siaraa, counted across the 14 charts above.

Size M garment measurements across Siaraa’s size charts, in inches
Measurement (size M)On most chartsThe exceptions
Bust38″ on 12 charts40″ on 2 charts
Waist34″ on 11 charts36″ on 3 charts
Hips40″ on 9 charts42″ on 3; 2 charts carry no Hips column
Across shoulder14.5″ on 12 charts15.0″ on 2 charts
Front lengthNo typical value — 17″ to 46″ depending on the garment

Read each row on its own, because the chart that is the exception changes from row to row. Taken together: on eleven of the fourteen charts a medium Siaraa kurti or kurta is a 38″ garment bust with a 34″ waist and a 14.5″ shoulder. On a twelfth the bust and shoulder are the same but the waist is 36″, and on the last two M is a 40″ bust with a 36″ waist and a 15″ shoulder. Those two charts also change the whole run: instead of XS 34″ to XXL 44″ they start at 36″, and one of them reaches 44.5″ at XL and 47″ at XXL rather than stepping a flat 2″ a size. There is no way to infer that from the letter on its own, which is the honest answer to “what is M in a kurti”: it depends on the garment, and the garment’s chart is on its product page.

Which sizes Siaraa makes

Every live style is made in S, M, L, XL and XXL. XS is offered on part of the range only: 24 of the 53 live styles carry it, and all of them are kurtas, kurtis or tops. Kurta sets, dresses and co-ord sets are S to XXL. The charts above still print an XS row because that is how the chart is drawn for the garment; whether XS exists in a given style is answered by the size selector on that product page.

Shipping is free across India and returns are open for 5 days, so if you are between two sizes on a chart the sensible move is to read that chart’s front length and bust together, order the one you think fits, and send it back if it does not.

Kurti and kurta sizing FAQs

What is M size in a kurti?

On Siaraa's charts, M is a garment measurement, not a body one. Eleven of the fourteen charts published on this page give size M a 38-inch bust, a 34-inch waist and a 14.5-inch across-shoulder. A twelfth keeps the 38-inch bust and 14.5-inch shoulder but pairs them with a 36-inch waist, and the remaining two are cut wider still: a 40-inch bust, a 36-inch waist and a 15-inch across-shoulder. Front length in size M ranges from 17 inches on a co-ord top to 46 inches on a kurta, a kurta set or a dress, so M tells you the width of the garment and nothing about its length — read the front length row separately.

Are the numbers on a kurti size chart body measurements or garment measurements?

On Siaraa they are garment measurements, in inches. The Bust figure is the finished garment measured across the chest, not the body it is intended for. Three of the fourteen charts also publish a separate To Fit Bust column, which is the body measurement the garment is cut for. Comparing the two columns on those charts shows the garment measuring 0, 2 and 4 inches more than the body respectively, so there is no single amount of ease that applies across the catalogue.

How do I measure myself for a kurti at home?

Use a soft tape, wear the underclothes you would wear with the kurti, and keep the tape level with the floor for every measurement. Measure the bust around its fullest part, the waist around the narrowest part of the torso, and the hips around the fullest part of the hips and seat. Take across-shoulder from the tip of one shoulder to the other across the back, which is much easier with someone helping. Then compare those numbers with the chart on the product page.

Which sizes does Siaraa make?

Every style is made in S, M, L, XL and XXL. XS is offered on some kurtas, kurtis and tops — 24 of the 53 live styles — but never on kurta sets, dresses or co-ord sets. The size selector on a product page is the authority on what is actually available in that style.

What does front length mean on a kurta or kurti size chart?

Front length is the finished garment measured from the highest point of the shoulder seam straight down to the front hem. It is what separates one garment type from another: across Siaraa's charts it runs from 17 inches on a co-ord top to 46 inches on a full-length kurta, kurta set or dress. Two garments can carry an identical bust row and still be completely different clothes.

Why do two kurtas in the same size have different measurements?

Because each chart belongs to a garment, not to the brand. Twelve of Siaraa's fourteen charts run from a 34-inch bust at XS to a 44-inch bust at XXL in 2-inch steps. One runs 36 to 46 inches, and one runs 36 to 47 inches with a 44.5-inch XL, so it does not even step evenly. That is why the chart on the specific product page is the one to read.

What if the size I ordered does not fit?

Siaraa offers 5-day returns, and shipping across India is free. Check the size chart on the product page before ordering, since it is the chart for that exact garment.

Still not sure? Start from the garment

Pick the piece first, then read its chart — that is the order that works, because the chart belongs to the garment. Siaraais an Indian women’s fashion brand selling its own catalogue of cotton kurtas, kurtis, tunic tops, dresses, Anarkalis and co-ord sets, with free shipping across India and 5-day returns.
